Intending to provide an improved standard of care for the public, NDIS providers are required by the commission to follow five steps before they can register under this scheme. All Australian states and territories require registration.

Step 1: Application

Initiate the process by filling out an online application on the NDIS Commission portal. Your organisation’s contact information, key personnel their roles, corporate structure and service coverage areas. You will also need to tick the relevant registration groups and services your organisation provides.

You will then complete a form and carry out an assessment of what you do against the NDIS Practice Standards applicable to your registration group. A compliance proof where applicable via enabling documents to be provided. After it is done you will get confirmation and an “initial scope of audit” for the follow on phase.

Step 2: Audit

After submitting your apply, Validate an independent quality auditor to conduct the audit from the ” initial scope of audit.” The audit will evaluate your organisation’s compliance with the NDIS Practice Standards, factoring in policies, procedures and participant feedback.

Step 3: Assessment

Audit results will be provided to the NDIS Commission assessing your application, and suitability for your organisations. The verification itself may vary and can be time intensive depending on the various factors such as organisation size, complexity etc.

Step 4: Outcome

You will receive a certificate of registration that lists the services and terms for which you are registered if successful. If unsuccessful you have 3 months to request a review or appeal the decision through the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

Step 5: Ongoing Compliance

Keeping to the NDIS Practice Standards, Complaints Incident Management, Worker Screening. Providers will be monitored for compliance and face suspension or cancellation of registration by the NDIS Commission if necessary.

In doing so, your organisation can become a registered provider of the NDIS and remain compliant with those standards outlined by the NDIS Commission.
